Who We Are

LOOKING BACK

The story of Adventure Church of Yuba City actually begins in the Fall of 2009. God began to place in the heart of Pastor Greg the desire for a new ministry in Yuba City that could be a Gospel witness and reach the families of this community.

As he began to explore the opportunities for planting a church in South Yuba City at Riverbend School, not a single door opened. In hindsight, we can now see it was the right place, but the wrong time.

Believing the door in Yuba City to be closed, Pastor Greg and his family moved to upstate New York in the Spring of 2010 to begin ministering at an already established church plant. While they saw significant success and blessing in the work of that church, other concerns brought their ministry there to a close, and in the summer of 2011, they moved back to California.

After several attempts to relocate in the Natomas area of Sacramento, God opened the door for their return to Yuba City. Pastor Greg stepped away from full- time ministry to better be able to contemplate and pray about the future.

A NEW ADVENTURE BEGINS

Upon his return to California, Pastor Greg was approached about the possibility of planting a church, and he committed to pray about it during the summer of 2011. After several meetings with both the Adventure Christian Church in Roseville and the Western District of the Evangelical Free Church of America, the decision was made to form this new congregation in our community. An Informational Meeting was held on October 5, 2011, and a Preview Service was held at Riverbend School on November 20, 2011. The positive response prompted another Preview Service on December 18, 2011, and Adventure Church of Yuba City officially launched on January 15, 2012.

In just the short time since the church was launched, God has blessed in immeasurable ways. People have come to faith in Christ, many have been baptized, and a significant impact has been made in the lives of the people in our community. As we contemplate future opportunities, we can move forward confident that God has blessed this ministry and, as we remain faithful to Him, will continue to bless us. This is HIS church, and by His grace, HE will build it.
